Quinlan Miles Garton is born!
Quinlan decided to join us earlier than expected at just 32.4 weeks gestation at 556 AM on Sunday March 4th at MGH. Mom's water broke at 11 PM on Saturday, and a trip was made to MGH OB triage after talking with the midwife on call at 1130. Mom was admitted at midnight, was in a room on delivery floor at 1, and after less than 6 hours of labor... Quinlan emerged. (Mom was right, it was a boy!)
He had good APGAR scores at 1 min and 5 min (8 & 9 respectively), and weighed 4lb 4 oz. He was immediately transferred to the NICU where they tried to allow him to breath on a CPAP before having to intubate him as he had infant respiratory distress synfrome and needed to have surfactant injected directly into his lungs to help him breathe.
Here you can see him hooked up to the vent, allowing the machine to help him breathe, and resting up after a very eventful day.
