We have been weighing Quinlan weekly and he has gained another 12 ounces this week, getting up to almost 3x his birth weight at 12.5 pounds! Yay, Quinlan! Mom has been tracking his percentile on the following website, and it appears as if Q is 17th for weight now: Baby Infant Growth Chart Calculator - Weight Age Percentile Graph.
He continues to make faces at his parents and the baby in the mirror as he is demonstrating here. He is also sporting a lobster bib that one of the therapists at mom's work left for her. It has quickly become one of dad's favorites!
Quinlan also continues to use his hands and to work on his head control. Below you can see him lifting his head up to make faces at daddy, a very fun game. We, and the women from early intervention, have noticed that Quinlan tends to favor his right side while turning his head so now we need to be good about placing ourselves and toys to his left. Dad has already placed a bunch of black and white drawings above his changing table, so hopefully that will also help.
Mom returned to work at MGH on Monday and is working to establish a new routine so she can spend quality time with Q Pup in the morning before having to bike in at noon. This is a change for dad as well, as he and Quinlan have 6-7 hours together before mom gets back. Monday worked out well and we were even able to attend a Buddhist discussion meeting together as a family in mom's district. Hopefully this is a sign of an overall smooth transition. Work seems to be glad to have mom back as there is a huge waitlist for pulmonary patients, and the new plan is for mom to be fully treating that population.
so your entire caseload will be pulmonary? that's so awesome!
